First Nations Trauma-Informed Practice Program

A three day immersive program supporting healthcare and human services teams to strengthen cultural safety, trauma-informed care and sustainable ways of working.patient outcomes.

Lets Walk Alongside Your Team

Grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems, ngardi guwanda (deep listening) and relational practice, this program creates space for care that feels more human, more connected and more effective; for both staff and the people they walk alongside.

Why This Matters

Healthcare and human service systems are carrying increasing pressure.

Staff are navigating complexity, emotional load and burnout. People accessing services are often moving through experiences of trauma, yet many still feel unseen, unheard or unsafe within care environments.

When systems focus only on outputs, something essential is lost — connection, trust and the ability to respond in ways that truly support healing.

This is where a different approach is needed.

First Nations Integrated Trauma-Informed Practice supports teams to reconnect with the relational foundations of care. It shifts practice from doing to being, from fixing to listening, and from process-driven responses to human-centred engagement.

What Makes This Different

This is not a standard training.

It is an immersive, relational experience that invites participants to slow down, reflect and reconnect with how they show up in their work.

Grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, the program brings together:

  • Indigenous relational frameworks
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Social and Emotional Wellbeing approaches
  • Reflective and story-based learning
  • The Warida Method

Participants are not just given tools, they are supported to deepen awareness, strengthen connection and build ways of working that feel more sustainable and grounded in real-world practice.

If you’re exploring how this could fit within your organisation, this one-page overview gives a clear snapshot of the program, outcomes and approach.

Program Overview

This program is delivered as a three day immersive experience.

Day 1

Foundations

Building understanding of trauma, deep listening and cultural safety. Participants begin to explore what sits beneath behaviours and how to create safer, more responsive interactions.

Day 2

Integration

Applying trauma-informed and culturally grounded responses in real world practice. Participants strengthen their ability to remain present, grounded and responsive while navigating complexity, communication and relational care.

Day 3

Embodiment and Leadership

Embedding trauma-informed and culturally safe practice within self, teams and systems. Participants move beyond understanding into lived practice, strengthening reflective capability, leadership and sustainable ways of working.

This progression supports a shift from understanding, to application, to embodied practice and leadership within complex environments.

Grounded in the Warida and Legacy approaches, this work is not about fixing people, but supporting reconnection to what is already within, strengthening how individuals, teams and systems show up in relationship with others.
