For many women, we have spent a lifetime being told that we are “too”. Too fat, too thin, too loud, too passionate, too shy, too broken. Over time this wears us down and we turn ourselves inside out trying to meet other’s expectations of what we should be. I was one of those women. For many women, even the mental health systems that are supposed to help, end up being places of disempowerment, victim blaming, essentially re-traumatising. There is no healing in these places, and this is reflected through the growing crisis in our families and communities around the world.
At Warida Wholistic Wellness, we believe that healing is a deeply personal journey, and every individual deserves a safe space where you can be heard, breathe and begin where you are. Our virtual Trauma-Informed Counselling service provides culturally grounded, compassionate support tailored to the needs of First Nations women and the broader community.
Trauma-informed counselling acknowledges the profound impact of trauma on a person’s emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. This approach prioritises safety, trust, and empowerment, ensuring that every session respects your lived experiences and personal strengths.
Guided by Indigenous values and wisdom, our counselling sessions are designed to:
There are times when life becomes heavy in ways that are hard to explain.
You might be carrying trauma, grief, burnout, anxiety, family violence, shame, old stories, or the exhaustion of always having to hold everything together. You may have sat in systems that named what was wrong, but did not always make space for your story, your culture, your body, your wisdom or your own pace.
For many women, there has also been a lifetime of being told they are too much, not enough, too emotional, too quiet, too angry, too sensitive, too broken.
At Warida, we begin somewhere different.
We begin with deep listening.
Trauma informed counselling at Warida is grounded in safety, choice, relationship and respect. It is not about forcing you to retell everything before you are ready. It is not about fixing you. It is about creating a space where you can breathe, be heard, reconnect with your inner knowing and begin to move in a way that feels right for you.
This work is culturally grounded, clinically informed and deeply relational. It honours the emotional, physical, cultural, spiritual and relational impacts of trauma. It also recognises your strength, your survival, your boundaries and the wisdom you already carry.
For First Nations women, and for women from diverse backgrounds who are seeking a different kind of therapeutic space, Warida offers counselling that holds culture, Country, story and lived experience with care.
You do not need to arrive with everything worked out.
You can begin where you are.
Warida may be a good fit if you are navigating:
Counselling sessions are held virtually, giving you access to support from wherever you are.
In sessions, we move gently and respectfully. You are not pushed to disclose more than feels safe. Together, we listen for what your body, story and inner knowing are already trying to tell you.
The work may include reflection, grounding, trauma informed counselling, cultural and relational ways of understanding healing, and practical tools to support you between sessions.
We understand that trauma impacts individuals differently, and our holistic approach integrates evidenced-based Indigenous healing practices and clinical approaches to meet your needs. Indigenous Healing Practices are an extension and deepening approach, that embraces the importance of ceremony, connection to Country and ancestors and many other aspects. Whether you seek to navigate past traumas, manage stress, or rediscover your sense of purpose, we are here to walk alongside you in your healing journey.
